Hi, I’m Megan and I live outside of Cleveland, Ohio, where the snow never stops and Midwest hospitality rules. What makes me qualified to write this? Assuming just like the majority of you reading this, I've been eating my whole life!
Food is my life. Well, it doesn’t pay the bills (it actually accounts for the majority of them), but there isn’t a social event in my life that doesn’t revolve around food. Going to a concert? Let’s eat before. Going to the bar? They’d better have food. Having a meeting? You’d better bring in lunch. Are we out of the house at any given time of the day? Let’s stop and get something to eat.
I obviously love food. It drives me. It excites me. There are two kinds of people in this world, those who live to eat, and those who eat to live, and they marry each other and spend the rest of eternity arguing about what constitutes as “eating out too much.”
I’m lucky that my job has taken me (well, is still taking me) to some pretty amazing places and I get to entertain people with – you guessed it– food. Seeing new cities is fantastic, but so is eating on an expense account. My toxic trait though is reading reviews from every site in the world to the point of ad nauseam just to make sure I am picking the right places and not missing out on a thing. Sure, it’s cool, but it’s downright exhausting. Have you ever researched something so much that your anxiety takes over and you just can’t enjoy yourself because of the worry about trying the wrong thing or eating at the wrong place or happening to visit on an off night, or are you normal?
I started this site partly as a place to document all my eats and recipes and miscellaneous food adventures, but also because if I find something I like, I want to share it out, and maybe it’ll help someone who reads a menu to death, too! And even if only my mom reads this regularly (Hi, Mom!), I will have shared something I love with the rest of the world, because food is meant to be shared with friends. Plus, it will be on the internet forever (there’s a life lesson here: don’t put it on the internet if you don’t want it to follow you around for the rest of your life. That includes that night you tried to go shot for shot with that guy you liked in college, and that top you wore once that everyone lied about, it really did look horrible).
If you made it through the end of this bio/ramble, congrats, you did it! And if you gave up because you got hungry, you are my people.
And, despite what you think, this isn’t just another food blog, because this one has me, and the others don’t.
